Title
Traefik: BasicAuth singleflight key collision allows authenticated identity spoofing
Summary
Traefik is an open source HTTP reverse proxy and load balancer. From 3.6.11 until 3.6.25 and 3.7.10, Traefik's BasicAuth middleware in pkg/middlewares/auth/basic_auth.go deduplicates concurrent password checks with a singleflight key built from the delimiter-free concatenation of password and secret, allowing an attacker who has a valid credential and the stored hash to authenticate as an unconfigured username when headerField trusts the forwarded identity. This issue is fixed in 3.6.25 and 3.7.10.

Title
rust-iot-platform Authentication Bypass via Non-Validated Authorization Header
Summary
rust-iot-platform's AuthToken request-guard implementation (api/src/main.rs) only checks whether the Authorization HTTP header is present, and never validates its value against any session, token store, or signature. Any request carrying an arbitrary non-empty Authorization header (e.g. `Authorization: fake`) satisfies the guard, granting access to every endpoint protected only by this request guard.

Title
Open WebUI: Account takeover via OAuth token exchange accepting tokens issued to any client
Summary
Open WebUI is an extensible, feature-rich, and user-friendly self-hosted AI platform. From 0.8.0 until 0.11.0, when ENABLE_OAUTH_TOKEN_EXCHANGE=True, /oauth/{provider}/token/exchange accepts a raw provider access token and validates it by calling the provider userinfo endpoint without confirming which OAuth client the token was issued to. Anyone holding an access token minted for any client registered with the same provider could exchange it for an Open WebUI session as that token user, including applications the operator does not control and has never authorized. This issue is fixed in 0.11.0.

Title
better-auth before 1.6.2 OAuth State Validation Bypass
Summary
better-auth versions before 1.6.2 fail to validate the OAuth state parameter against the stored nonce when using cookie-backed state storage without PKCE. Attackers can forge the state parameter and supply an attacker-controlled authorization code to create authenticated sessions bound to the attacker's external identity or persistently link attacker accounts to victim profiles.

better-auth before 1.6.22 Account Takeover via Magic-Link Email-OTP
Summary
better-auth versions >= 1.1.3 and < 1.6.22 (and pre-release versions >= 1.7.0-beta.0 and < 1.7.0-beta.10) are vulnerable to account takeover via pre-account hijacking on magic-link and email-OTP sign-in when open email/password registration is enabled. An attacker registers an account with the victim's email address and an attacker-chosen password; the account remains unverified. When the legitimate owner later signs in via the magic-link or email-OTP passwordless flow, the account is marked verified without removing the pre-existing password or revoking existing sessions, so the attacker's password remains valid, granting persistent access to the victim's account. Fixed in 1.6.22 and 1.7.0-beta.10.

Title
Statamic: Account takeover via OAuth email matching without email-verification check
Summary
Statamic is a Laravel and Git powered content management system (CMS). Prior to 5.74.1 and 6.24.0, when OAuth login was enabled with a provider that does not guarantee verified email addresses, an unauthenticated attacker could sign in as an existing user, potentially including a super admin, without knowing that user's password, because the application matched OAuth identities to accounts by email address alone. Exploitation requires OAuth to be explicitly enabled with such a provider. This issue is fixed in versions 5.74.1 and 6.24.0.

Management Authentication Bypass and Privilege Escalation
Summary
An authentication bypass vulnerability in Check Point Security Management and Multi-Domain Security Management allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to execute administrative commands on the Management Server. Successful exploitation may also allow command execution on managed Security Gateways. Exploitation requires network access to the Management Server without firewall protection or a configuration that does not restrict Trusted Clients.

Architecture and Design

Use an authentication framework or library such as the OWASP ESAPI Authentication feature.

CAPEC-114: Authentication Abuse

An attacker obtains unauthorized access to an application, service or device either through knowledge of the inherent weaknesses of an authentication mechanism, or by exploiting a flaw in the authentication scheme's implementation. In such an attack an authentication mechanism is functioning but a carefully controlled sequence of events causes the mechanism to grant access to the attacker.

CAPEC-115: Authentication Bypass

An attacker gains access to application, service, or device with the privileges of an authorized or privileged user by evading or circumventing an authentication mechanism. The attacker is therefore able to access protected data without authentication ever having taken place.

CAPEC-151: Identity Spoofing

Identity Spoofing refers to the action of assuming (i.e., taking on) the identity of some other entity (human or non-human) and then using that identity to accomplish a goal. An adversary may craft messages that appear to come from a different principle or use stolen / spoofed authentication credentials.

CAPEC-194: Fake the Source of Data

An adversary takes advantage of improper authentication to provide data or services under a falsified identity. The purpose of using the falsified identity may be to prevent traceability of the provided data or to assume the rights granted to another individual. One of the simplest forms of this attack would be the creation of an email message with a modified "From" field in order to appear that the message was sent from someone other than the actual sender. The root of the attack (in this case the email system) fails to properly authenticate the source and this results in the reader incorrectly performing the instructed action. Results of the attack vary depending on the details of the attack, but common results include privilege escalation, obfuscation of other attacks, and data corruption/manipulation.

CAPEC-22: Exploiting Trust in Client

An attack of this type exploits vulnerabilities in client/server communication channel authentication and data integrity. It leverages the implicit trust a server places in the client, or more importantly, that which the server believes is the client. An attacker executes this type of attack by communicating directly with the server where the server believes it is communicating only with a valid client. There are numerous variations of this type of attack.

CAPEC-57: Utilizing REST's Trust in the System Resource to Obtain Sensitive Data

This attack utilizes a REST(REpresentational State Transfer)-style applications' trust in the system resources and environment to obtain sensitive data once SSL is terminated.

CAPEC-593: Session Hijacking

This type of attack involves an adversary that exploits weaknesses in an application's use of sessions in performing authentication. The adversary is able to steal or manipulate an active session and use it to gain unathorized access to the application.

CAPEC-633: Token Impersonation

An adversary exploits a weakness in authentication to create an access token (or equivalent) that impersonates a different entity, and then associates a process/thread to that that impersonated token. This action causes a downstream user to make a decision or take action that is based on the assumed identity, and not the response that blocks the adversary.

CAPEC-650: Upload a Web Shell to a Web Server

By exploiting insufficient permissions, it is possible to upload a web shell to a web server in such a way that it can be executed remotely. This shell can have various capabilities, thereby acting as a "gateway" to the underlying web server. The shell might execute at the higher permission level of the web server, providing the ability the execute malicious code at elevated levels.

CAPEC-94: Adversary in the Middle (AiTM)

An adversary targets the communication between two components (typically client and server), in order to alter or obtain data from transactions. A general approach entails the adversary placing themself within the communication channel between the two components.
