RHSA-2026:83612
Vulnerability from csaf_redhat - Published: 2026-10-15 14:45 - Updated: 2026-10-20 11:22A flaw was found in Eclipse Jetty, a widely used web server and servlet container. This vulnerability affects its HTTP Digest authentication mechanism, which is used to verify user identities. The issue arises because Jetty's hash computation for passwords does not correctly handle certain characters, leading to a weakness in how passwords are processed. A remote attacker could exploit this by crafting a specific password that generates the same internal hash as a legitimate user's password, thereby bypassing authentication and gaining unauthorized access to the victim's account.

A flaw was found in Eclipse Jetty. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause the server to retain HTTP/1.1 request trailers from a prior connection. Consequently, subsequent requests made over the same connection may unintentionally disclose information by reporting the previously retained trailers, or a combination of previous and current request trailers.
A flaw was found in org.mongodb/mongodb-driver. During routine client initialization, sensitive configuration information, including credentials for outbound network connectivity, is written to application log output in cleartext. A local attacker with the ability to read the affected application's logs or downstream log-aggregation storage could recover these credentials. This allows them to reuse the credentials to authenticate to the associated network infrastructure, leading to information disclosure.
A flaw was found in WildFly Elytron. Password hashing and verification normalize input with Unicode NFKC, which can collapse fullwidth characters to ASCII equivalents. A remote attacker can more easily guess affected passwords by using an ASCII-only dictionary against accounts whose passwords were intended to include those non-ASCII characters, leading to unauthorized access.
A flaw was found in c3p0, a JDBC Connection pooling library. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to potentially execute arbitrary code by crafting a malicious data source object. When an application deserializes this object and automatically resolves its properties, it can trigger vulnerable JDBC drivers. This requires specific conditions, including the presence of a susceptible JDBC driver and a mechanism for automatic property resolution during deserialization.
A flaw was found in Micrometer's StatsD and Logging meter registries. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to inject line terminators into metric data, such as names or tag values, due to insufficient sanitization of untrusted input. Exploitation can lead to the spoofing of arbitrary metrics, including critical system or business metrics, and the injection of false log entries, potentially impacting monitoring and auditing systems.
A flaw was found in Netty (io.netty:netty-handler). When using the SslProvider.OPENSSL client path with a plain X509TrustManager and without Unsafe-based trust-manager wrapping (Java 25+), TLS hostname verification is disabled. This misconfiguration allows a man-in-the-middle attacker to present a fraudulent certificate for a different hostname, which is then accepted without proper validation. This could lead to sensitive information disclosure.
A flaw was found in Apache HttpComponents Client, specifically in its classic input/output (I/O) model. When processing a response message with an invalid or unsupported `Content-Encoding` header, the client fails to properly release the underlying network connection. This connection leak can lead to the exhaustion of the connection pool, making the service unavailable and resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS) for legitimate users.
A flaw was found in jackson-core. A remote attacker can exploit an incomplete fix in the non-blocking JSON parser by streaming specially crafted JSON data in small chunks. This bypasses the intended number length constraint, causing the parser to accumulate excessive memory per connection. This uncontrolled memory growth can lead to a denial of service (DoS) by exhausting the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) heap.
A flaw was found in the asynchronous version of Apache HttpComponents Client. This improper Transport Layer Security (TLS) hostname verification vulnerability allows a remote attacker to intercept and modify network traffic. By presenting a valid certificate for a different domain, an attacker can impersonate the server, leading to a Man-in-the-Middle (MITM) attack and compromising communication.
A flaw was found in Netty, an asynchronous network application framework. When processing malformed domain names in DNS packets, the DNS record decoder fails to release allocated memory. This vulnerability allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to incrementally leak direct memory, eventually leading to a denial of service.
A flaw was found in Netty, an asynchronous, event-driven network application framework. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit fragmented Transport Layer Security (TLS) ClientHello messages to bypass the Server Name Indication (SNI) routing mechanism. This forces a fallback to a less secure default SslContext, allowing the attacker to bypass mutual TLS authentication requirements and gain unauthorized access to protected resources.
A flaw was found in Apache ZooKeeper. The deleteContainer opcode is processed without verifying Access Control List (ACL) permissions. A remote, unauthenticated attacker with network access to the ZooKeeper client port can delete any empty persistent znode, including container and TTL nodes. This can lead to data integrity issues or denial of service.
A flaw was found in Deep Java Library. Due to an integer overflow during tensor buffer validation, a remote, unauthenticated attacker can send a crafted tensor payload to trigger out-of-bounds memory access. Successful exploitation can allow an attacker to obtain sensitive data from adjacent process memory or crash the application, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).
A flaw was found in Netty. SpdySessionHandler accepts an unlimited number of concurrent remote-initiated streams because localConcurrentStreams defaults to Integer.MAX_VALUE and the handler provides no API to change it. A remote peer can open a SPDY connection and send a large number of SYN_STREAM frames with FLAG_FIN=0, causing unbounded heap and direct memory allocation that can lead to JVM OutOfMemoryError and a denial of service.
A flaw was found in Netty's HttpServerCodec. A remote, unauthenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability by pipelining HTTP/1.1 requests on a single connection and withholding reads. This action causes the methodOverflowQueue to grow without limit, leading to unbounded heap memory consumption and a denial of service due to memory exhaustion.
A flaw was found in Netty's HTTP/2 HpackEncoder. A remote attacker can exploit this by sending HTTP/2 SETTINGS frames with a very large MAX_HEADER_TABLE_SIZE. This causes the HpackEncoder to store an excessive number of unique headers, leading to increased CPU usage and memory consumption, ultimately resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).
A flaw was found in Netty's WebSocketServerExtensionHandler. A remote, unauthenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability by using HTTP/1.1 pipelining to send requests faster than the application can respond. This leads to an unbounded growth of a per-connection queue, consuming excessive memory. Eventually, this can cause the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) to exhaust its heap, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS) for the affected server.
A flaw was found in Netty's HTTP/1 decoder. Incomplete validation of malformed Transfer-Encoding headers allows a remote attacker to perform HTTP request smuggling. By sending specially crafted HTTP requests, an attacker can inject arbitrary HTTP requests, potentially bypassing security controls or accessing unauthorized resources.
A flaw was found in Netty. A reference-count leak in the HAProxy PROXY-v2 message decoder allows a remote, unauthenticated attacker to send specially crafted PROXY-protocol v2 headers. This can lead to memory exhaustion, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS) for the affected system.
A flaw was found in Netty RtspDecoder. The `RtspMethods.valueOf()` function incorrectly strips trailing control bytes from method tokens in Real-Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) requests. A remote attacker can exploit this by sending a specially crafted RTSP request, leading to method-token smuggling. This vulnerability allows an attacker to bypass method-based access controls and can also be used to launder malicious requests through Netty-based RTSP proxies, making them appear legitimate to backend systems.
A flaw was found in Netty. A remote attacker could exploit this by sending a specially crafted HTTP request that includes control characters within the chunk-size line. This bypasses the intended strict validation, allowing the attacker to inject arbitrary HTTP requests. This vulnerability can lead to HTTP request smuggling, potentially resulting in information disclosure or other unauthorized actions.
A flaw was found in Netty's HTTP/2 codec. When converting HTTP/1 CONNECT requests to HTTP/2, the component incorrectly uses the Host header instead of the CONNECT authority-form request-target for the tunnel authority. A remote attacker can exploit this by supplying a different Host header, leading to a malformed HTTP/2 CONNECT request. This can bypass security controls such as tunnel allow-lists or egress policies, resulting in integrity loss.
A flaw was found in Netty. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending specially crafted HTTP/2 or HTTP/3 Extended CONNECT requests. Netty's HTTP-object conversion path incorrectly processes these requests as regular HTTP/1.1 CONNECT requests, leading to a loss of critical protocol and path information. This misinterpretation can allow attackers to bypass security policies, such as routing or authorization logic, in applications that rely on Netty for HTTP/2 or HTTP/3 communication, resulting in integrity loss.
A flaw was found in Netty. A remote unauthenticated attacker can exploit a vulnerability in Netty's HTTP/1 to HTTP/2 conversion process. When an HTTP/1 request includes both an absolute-form request-target and a conflicting Host header, Netty incorrectly prioritizes the Host header for the HTTP/2 :authority field, discarding the original request-target authority. This inconsistency can allow an attacker to bypass security controls in Netty-based proxies or gateways, potentially leading to unauthorized access, cache poisoning, or misrouting of requests.
A flaw was found in Netty's HTTP/1.1 decoder. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass `Transfer-Encoding` header validation by splitting the `Transfer-Encoding` field across multiple headers, with the last field containing a non-final transfer coding like `gzip` or `deflate`. This bypass can lead to HTTP request smuggling, enabling attackers to bypass security controls, desynchronize request processing, or cause requests to be processed in an unintended context.
A flaw was found in Netty's `netty-codec-http` component. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a specially crafted HTTP/1.1 chunk-size token that includes post-digit whitespace. This incorrect parsing of the chunk size can lead to HTTP request smuggling. This allows an attacker to bypass security controls or access unauthorized resources in proxy/backend deployments.
A flaw was found in Netty's HTTP/2 stack. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to inject prohibited characters, such as NUL, Line Feed, and Carriage Return, into HTTP/2 header field values due to insufficient validation. When these values cross an HTTP/2 to HTTP/1.1 translation boundary, they can be exploited for request smuggling, header injection, or response splitting. This could lead to unauthorized access, data manipulation, or other security bypasses.
A flaw was found in Netty. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by exhausting server memory. Because the SPDY session handler does not restrict the number of concurrent streams initiated by a remote peer, an attacker can transmit an excessive volume of stream creation requests over a connection, triggering memory exhaustion and crashing the application.
A flaw was found in Netty. This vulnerability allows a remote, unauthenticated attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by sending numerous pipelined HTTP/1.1 requests over a single connection while withholding reads. Netty's HTTP server codec stores unanswered requests in an internal queue without a size limit, leading to excessive memory consumption and an eventual application crash.
A flaw was found in Netty's HttpServerCodec. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability to cause HTTP response desynchronization, leading to response splitting and potential information disclosure. By sending pipelined requests with informational headers followed by another request, the server misaligns outbound responses with queued inbound requests. Consequently, response data can be associated with the wrong request on reused connections, leading to the delivery of unintended content.

Prior to version 0.14.0, c3p0\u0027s DataSource and ConnectionPoolDataSource implementations expose getConnection() and getPooledConnection() as JavaBean properties. During deserialization, carrier libraries such as Apache Commons BeanUtils automatically invoke these getters, which can trigger calls into JDBC drivers. An attacker who can deliver a crafted serialized object to an application could exploit this to achieve remote code execution.\n\nSuccessful exploitation requires all of the following prerequisites to be met:\n1. c3p0 \u003c 0.14.0 on the application classpath\n2. A vulnerable JDBC driver on the classpath\n3. A carrier library that auto-reads JavaBean properties during deserialization (e.g., commons-beanutils with a Comparator in a sorted collection)\n4. A deserialization entry point that processes attacker-controlled data (e.g., via RMI, JMX, or HTTP)\n\nThis is a gadget chain attack where c3p0 provides one essential component. Removing any single prerequisite from the classpath prevents exploitation.",

"text": "A moderate severity flaw was found in Micrometer\u0027s StatsD and Logging meter registries (io.micrometer:micrometer-registry-statsd and io.micrometer:micrometer-core), which are shipped in a number of Red Hat middleware, integration, and application-platform products. These libraries do not sanitize newline characters (\\n, \\r) by default. When an application instruments meters using user-controlled, unvalidated input for metric names, tag keys, or tag values, a remote attacker can inject line terminators to break out of the current metric or log line. With the Datadog or Etsy flavor of the StatsD registry, whose protocol is newline-delimited, this enables line-protocol injection and cross-metric spoofing; with LoggingMeterRegistry, which prints metric output line-by-line to log files, this enables metric spoofing via downstream log-metrics scrapers or parsers as well as general log spoofing. A successful attacker can spoof arbitrary metrics, including critical system or business metrics, and inject false log entries, impacting the integrity of monitoring and auditing systems; the confidentiality and availability of the application itself are not directly affected. Exploitation requires the specific registry configuration together with unsafe instrumentation that passes untrusted input to meters, so attack complexity is high, and Red Hat rates this flaw Moderate (CVSS 3.1: 5.9, AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N), consistent with the upstream MEDIUM rating.\n\nMultiple Red Hat products that ship the affected components, including Red Hat build of Quarkus, JBoss EAP XP, Red Hat Build of Keycloak, JBoss Data Grid, Red Hat AMQ, Red Hat OpenShift AI, and Red Hat build of Apache Camel, are recorded as affected, and fixes are being pursued by the responsible engineering teams; several affected product streams are out of active support scope. Red Hat Satellite is not affected because the vulnerable code is not present in the shipped candlepin component.",

In Red Hat environments, Netty is widely bundled as an underlying network engine across middleware and containerized offerings, including Red Hat Build of Keycloak, Quarkus, and JBoss EAP.
