RHSA-2025:2470
Vulnerability from csaf_redhat - Published: 2025-03-10 01:04 - Updated: 2026-10-09 19:45A vulnerability was discovered in Tornado where it improperly handles HTTP requests containing duplicate Transfer-Encoding: chunked headers. When duplicate Transfer-Encoding headers are present in an incoming request, Tornado ignores them and treats the request as body-less, leaving the chunked message body unparsed in the HTTP socket stream. When Tornado is deployed behind a reverse proxy or load balancer that correctly processes chunked payloads, an unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit this parsing discrepancy to conduct HTTP request smuggling, bypass proxy security restrictions, poison intermediate caches, or desynchronize backend connections.

A flaw was found in Tornado's HTTP cookie parsing algorithm. This vulnerability allows excessive CPU consumption via maliciously crafted cookie headers due to Quadratic complexity, potentially blocking the processing of other requests and leading to the loss of availability of the system.

The approach is described in our paper Mapping CVEs to MITRE ATT&CK Techniques: A Curated Gold-Set Classifier and the Limits of LLM-Assisted Label Expansion.
Browse all ATT&CK techniques and the vulnerabilities related to each.
Related by attack behaviour
Vulnerabilities whose description is nearest to this one in the vector space of the CIRCL/vulnerability-attack-technique-biencoder model. This is a similarity search over the bi-encoder space (plain cosine), not a classification, and it has no measured accuracy.
