Title
FOSSBilling missing authorization checks on read-only admin API endpoints expose sensitive staff, client, and redirect data
Summary
FOSSBilling is a free, open-source billing and client management system. Prior to version 0.8.0, low-privileged staff accounts may read sensitive data via admin API endpoints that lack permission checks. While sibling write endpoints correctly enforce fine-grained permissions, the corresponding read endpoints have no authorization guards. Version 0.8.0 contains a fix. Some workarounds are available. Restrict staff accounts to only those who need access to sensitive data and/or use a reverse proxy or WAF to restrict access to the affected endpoints.

Title
Open edX Platform: Insufficient Permission on set_course_mode_price()
Summary
Open edX Platform enables the authoring and delivery of online learning at any scale. Prior to commit 59bb6d6, the view function set_course_mode_price() at lms/djangoapps/instructor/views/instructor_dashboard.py:430 is decorated only with @login_required and performs no course-level permission check. Any authenticated user — including a learner account with zero course roles — can issue a single POST request to overwrite the honor mode price and currency of any course on the platform. The companion frontend modal was removed in a prior cleanup, but the URL route and view remain live, making this an unguarded orphan endpoint. This issue has been patched via commit 59bb6d6.

Title
Sharp: Missing Authorization Check in Quick Creation Command Endpoints
Summary
Sharp is a content management framework built for Laravel as a package. From version 9.0.0 to before version 9.22.3, the create and store endpoints of the Quick Creation Command feature did not enforce any authorization check. An authenticated Sharp user without create permission on a given entity could bypass the authorization layer and either retrieve the creation form or submit new records for that entity, as long as it had a Quick Creation Command handler configured. This issue has been patched in version 9.22.3.

Title
Vitest: Exposed Browser Mode API Can Proxy CDP and Overwrite Config Files, Leading to RCE
Summary
Vitest is a testing framework powered by Vite. From 3.0.0 until 3.2.5, 4.1.8, and 5.0.0-beta.4, Vitest Browser Mode exposed a cdp() API that forwarded raw Chrome DevTools Protocol methods without being gated by allowWrite or allowExec, allowing a remote client with exposed browser API metadata to use CDP Page.setDownloadBehavior and Runtime.evaluate to overwrite vite.config.ts and execute attacker-controlled Node.js code. This issue is fixed in versions 3.2.5, 4.1.8, and 5.0.0-beta.

Title
Frappe: Missing authorization in toggle_like and mark_as_seen
Summary
Frappe is a full-stack web application framework. In version 16.31.0 and earlier, the whitelisted toggle_like and mark_as_seen endpoints in frappe/desk/like.py and frappe/desk/doctype/note/note.py do not enforce read permission before modifying _liked_by metadata or a Note seen state. An authenticated user can interact with documents or notes that the user cannot read, disclosing resource existence and modifying resource-associated metadata. No released fixed version is available as of this review.

Title
Termix: Account Takeover via Global Settings Disclosure
Summary
Termix is a web-based server management platform with SSH terminal, tunneling, and file editing capabilities. Prior to 2.3.2, the POST /database/export endpoint creates a user export that includes the global settings table even though the rest of the export is user-scoped. The settings table contains reset_code_ and temp_reset_token_ password-reset artifacts, allowing a low-privileged authenticated user to recover another local account's reset code and complete the normal password-reset flow. Successful exploitation results in local-user account takeover and administrative compromise when the victim is an administrator. This issue is fixed in version 2.3.2.

Title
Termix: Missing authorization in SSH host credential resolution exposes stored credentials
Summary
Termix is a web-based server management platform with SSH terminal, tunneling, and file editing capabilities. Prior to 2.3.2, the terminal WebSocket accepts a user-controlled hostConfig.id and src/backend/ssh/host-resolver.ts resolves that host without requiring ownership or explicit access. When no credential is shared with the requester, resolveHostById performs an owner credential fallback, and src/backend/ssh/terminal.ts combines that credential with attacker-controlled ip, port, and username values. An authenticated low-privileged user can therefore make Termix authenticate to an attacker-controlled SSH server and disclose another user's stored SSH password or private-key material while the victim user's data key is unlocked. This issue is fixed in version 2.3.2.

Prior to 1.6.11, and in 1.6.14 and later when invitation IDs can be obtained outside the invited mailbox and requireEmailVerificationOnInvitation: true is not enabled, the organization plugin's acceptInvitation, rejectInvitation, getInvitation, and listUserInvitations recipient endpoints use session.user.email and an invitation ID without sufficient verified-email ownership proof, allowing a user with an unverified session for the invited email address to accept an organization invitation after obtaining the invitation ID. This issue is fixed for the original default behavior in version 1.6.11, while 1.6.14 restored compatibility for built-in opaque invitation IDs and leaves affected configurations requiring secure options.

Title
Kite has an authenticated cluster RBAC bypass in /api/v1/overview
Summary
Kite is a Kubernetes dashboard. Prior to version 0.12.3, authenticated Kite users with any role can request `/api/v1/overview` for a cluster that their roles do not permit by selecting that cluster with `x-cluster-name`. The overview route is registered before `middleware.RBACMiddleware()` and `GetOverview` only checks `len(user.Roles) > 0`, so it returns aggregate Kubernetes inventory and capacity data from unauthorized clusters. Version 0.12.3 fixes the issue.

Title
Blueprint Studio API authorization bypass for non-admin Home Assistant users
Summary
Blueprint Studio is a VS Code-like file editor for Home Assistant configuration files. Prior to 2.5.2, Blueprint Studio exposed administrator-intended backend API actions to any authenticated Home Assistant user because the backend did not consistently enforce the panel's admin-only authorization boundary. Affected surfaces included the backend API, upload API, stream routes, terminal WebSocket, Blueprint Studio WebSocket subscriptions, call_service, render_template, global_replace, file and stream access paths, upload handling, and terminal helpers. A non-admin user could invoke arbitrary Home Assistant services, expose Home Assistant state through templates, modify configuration files, access streamed or downloaded configuration content, upload files, or reach terminal-related helpers. These actions could compromise the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the Home Assistant installation. This issue is fixed in version 2.5.2.

Mitigation
Architecture and Design
  • Divide the product into anonymous, normal, privileged, and administrative areas. Reduce the attack surface by carefully mapping roles with data and functionality. Use role-based access control (RBAC) [REF-229] to enforce the roles at the appropriate boundaries.
  • Note that this approach may not protect against horizontal authorization, i.e., it will not protect a user from attacking others with the same role.
Mitigation
Architecture and Design

Ensure that access control checks are performed related to the business logic. These checks may be different than the access control checks that are applied to more generic resources such as files, connections, processes, memory, and database records. For example, a database may restrict access for medical records to a specific database user, but each record might only be intended to be accessible to the patient and the patient's doctor [REF-7].

Mitigation MIT-4.4
Architecture and Design

Strategy: Libraries or Frameworks

  • Use a vetted library or framework that does not allow this weakness to occur or provides constructs that make this weakness easier to avoid.
  • For example, consider using authorization frameworks such as the JAAS Authorization Framework [REF-233] and the OWASP ESAPI Access Control feature [REF-45].
Mitigation
Architecture and Design
  • For web applications, make sure that the access control mechanism is enforced correctly at the server side on every page. Users should not be able to access any unauthorized functionality or information by simply requesting direct access to that page.
  • One way to do this is to ensure that all pages containing sensitive information are not cached, and that all such pages restrict access to requests that are accompanied by an active and authenticated session token associated with a user who has the required permissions to access that page.
Mitigation
System Configuration Installation

Use the access control capabilities of your operating system and server environment and define your access control lists accordingly. Use a "default deny" policy when defining these ACLs.

CAPEC-665: Exploitation of Thunderbolt Protection Flaws

An adversary leverages a firmware weakness within the Thunderbolt protocol, on a computing device to manipulate Thunderbolt controller firmware in order to exploit vulnerabilities in the implementation of authorization and verification schemes within Thunderbolt protection mechanisms. Upon gaining physical access to a target device, the adversary conducts high-level firmware manipulation of the victim Thunderbolt controller SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) flash, through the use of a SPI Programing device and an external Thunderbolt device, typically as the target device is booting up. If successful, this allows the adversary to modify memory, subvert authentication mechanisms, spoof identities and content, and extract data and memory from the target device. Currently 7 major vulnerabilities exist within Thunderbolt protocol with 9 attack vectors as noted in the Execution Flow.
