Prior to 5.16.5, a vulnerability was discovered in go-git whereby data integrity values for .pack and .idx files were not properly verified. This resulted in go-git potentially consuming corrupted files, which would likely result in unexpected errors such as object not found. For context, clients fetch packfiles from upstream Git servers. Those files contain a checksum of their contents, so that clients can perform integrity checks before consuming it. The pack indexes (.idx) are generated locally by go-git, or the git cli, when new .pack files are received and processed. The integrity checks for both files were not being verified correctly. This vulnerability is fixed in 5.16.5."

Go\u0027s standard library performs case-insensitive matching of JSON keys to struct field tags \u2014 a field tagged json:\"method\" would also match \"Method\", \"METHOD\", etc. This violated the JSON-RPC 2.0 specification, which defines exact field names. A malicious MCP peer may have been able to send protocol messages with non-standard field casing that the SDK would silently accept. This had the potential for bypassing intermediary inspection and coss-implementation inconsistency. Go\u0027s standard JSON unmarshaling was replaced with a case-sensitive decoder in commit 7b8d81c. Users are advised to update to v1.3.1 to resolve this issue."

A vulnerability was discovered in go-git whereby data integrity values for .pack and .idx files were not properly verified. This resulted in go-git potentially consuming corrupted files, which would likely result in unexpected errors such as object not found.
For context, clients fetch packfiles from upstream Git servers. Those files contain a checksum of their contents, so that clients can perform integrity checks before consuming it. The pack indexes (.idx) are generated locally by go-git, or the git cli, when new .pack files are received and processed. The integrity checks for both files were not being verified correctly.
Note that the lack of verification of the packfile checksum has no impact on the trust relationship between the client and server, which is enforced based on the protocol being used (e.g. TLS in the case of https:// or known hosts for ssh://). In other words, the packfile checksum verification does not provide any security benefits when connecting to a malicious or compromised Git server.
Patches
Users should upgrade to v5.16.5, or the latest v6 pseudo-version, in order to mitigate this vulnerability.
Workarounds
In case updating to a fixed version of go-git is not possible, users can run git fsck from the git cli to check for data corruption on a given repository.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-03-19 16:42 – Updated: 2026-03-25 20:48The Go SDK's Streamable HTTP transport accepted browser-generated cross-site POST requests without validating the Origin header and without requiring Content-Type: application/json. In deployments without Authorization, especially stateless or sessionless configurations, this allows an arbitrary website to send MCP requests to a local server and potentially trigger tool execution.
Impact:
A malicious website may have been able to send cross-site POST requests with Content-Type: text/plain, which due to CORS-safelisted properties would reach the MCP message handling without any CORS preflight barrier.
Fix:
The SDK was modified to perform Content-Type header validation for POST requests and introduced a configurable protection for verifying the origin of the request in commit a433a83. Users are advised to update to v1.4.1 to use this additional protection.
Note: v1.4.1 requires Go 1.25 or later.
