Title
exceljs through 4.4.0 Uncontrolled Resource Consumption via Unbounded xlsx Decompression
Summary
exceljs-hardened before 5.0.0 decompresses all entries from supplied xlsx archives into memory without limits on entry size, total size, or compression ratio. Attackers can upload highly compressed workbooks that expand to gigabytes in memory, exhausting available resources and causing denial of service.

Title
Memory-amplification denial of service via GZIP decompression bomb in Amazon ion-java
Summary
Improper handling of highly compressed data in the GZIP auto-decompression handler in Amazon ion-java before 1.12.0 might allow remote actors to cause a denial of service via a crafted compressed Ion document that expands to an arbitrarily large size upon decompression. To remediate this issue, users should upgrade to version 1.12.0 and configure withGzipDecompressionEnabled(false) and/or set an explicit withMaximumBufferSize() when parsing untrusted input.

Title
Wazuh 4.4.0 < 4.14.7 DoS via fdecompress_files() Zip Bomb
Summary
Wazuh 4.4.0 before 4.14.7 contains a denial of service vulnerability in the fdecompress_files() function within cluster.py that allows authenticated cluster peers to exhaust memory by supplying a malicious synchronization archive without decompressed size limits. Attackers holding a valid cluster Fernet key can upload a small, highly compressed zip bomb archive that forces wazuh-clusterd on the master node to decompress the full payload into memory, causing memory exhaustion and service disruption.

Title
ffuf denial of service (OOM) via HTTP response decompression bomb
Summary
ffuf is a fast web fuzzer written in Go. Prior to 2.2.0, ffuf allows a malicious target server to cause an out-of-memory denial of service because the response size guard in pkg/runner/simple.go checks only the compressed Content-Length while io.ReadAll reads gzip, brotli, deflate, transparently decompressed, or chunked response bodies without a decompressed-size bound. This issue is fixed in version 2.2.0.

CVE-2026-68981 (GCVE-0-2026-68981)

Title
Apache NiFi: Uncontrolled Resource Consumption through Decompression of HTTP Requests
Summary
Apache NiFi 1.5.0 through 2.10.0 support gzip-encoded HTTP requests for the application REST API using a Jersey encoding filter. The framework enforced a configurable maximum request size on the compressed payload rather than the decompressed output, allowing a malicious client to send crafted requests that could consume excessive amounts of memory. Upgrading to Apache NiFi 2.11.0 is the recommended mitigation, which relocates response compression to Jetty Server and disables decompression of gzip-encoded HTTP requests.

Title
Centrifugo: Decompression bomb DoS via permessage-deflate in unidirectional WebSocket transport
Summary
Centrifugo is an open-source scalable real-time messaging server. Prior to 6.8.4, Centrifugo unidirectional WebSocket transport with uni_websocket.compression enabled enforced uni_websocket.message_size_limit against compressed wire-frame length in internal/websocket/conn.go advanceFrame, but ReadMessage used io.ReadAll after decompression without an output cap, allowing unauthenticated requests to /connection/uni_websocket to trigger large memory and CPU consumption. This issue is fixed in version 6.8.4.

Title
Grav: Decompression Bomb via ZipArchiver - Missing Extraction Limits
Summary
Grav is a file-based Web platform. Prior to 2.0.1, Grav ZipArchiver::extract() in system/src/Grav/Common/Filesystem/ZipArchiver.php passes archives to ZipArchive::extractTo() without enforcing the system.gpm.archive uncompressed-size, file-count, or nesting-depth limits. Code using Archiver::create('zip') to extract an attacker-controlled archive can exhaust disk space or inodes and make the site unavailable. This issue is fixed in version 2.0.1.

Title
Grav before 2.0.1 Decompression Bomb via ZipArchiver
Summary
Grav before 2.0.1 contains a decompression bomb vulnerability in ZipArchiver::extract() that lacks limits on uncompressed size, file count, and nesting depth. Attackers can supply a crafted ZIP archive that expands to fill available disk space, causing denial of service by exhausting storage resources.

CVE-2026-61449 (GCVE-0-2026-61449)

Vulnerability from cvelistv5 – Published: 2026-07-15 11:25 – Updated: 2026-07-15 17:52

Title
Grav before 2.0.2 Decompression Bomb via Forged ZIP Size
Summary
Grav 2.0.1 contains a decompression-bomb size-cap bypass in ZipArchiver and GPM\Installer. The size bound introduced in 2.0.1 sums the uncompressed size declared in each entry's ZIP central-directory header (ZipArchive::statIndex()['size']) and rejects archives exceeding system.gpm.archive.max_uncompressed_size before extraction. Because this declared size is attacker-forgeable and is not cross-checked against the actual inflated stream, a crafted archive declaring tiny per-entry sizes passes the cap while extractTo() writes the real, much larger content, filling disk or exhausting inodes. The archive must be supplied by a package source or admin upload (admin/operator trust). Fixed in 2.0.2. This is an incomplete fix for GHSA-928x-9mpw-8h56.

          "lang": "en",
"value": "Grav 2.0.1 contains a decompression-bomb size-cap bypass in ZipArchiver and GPM\\Installer. The size bound introduced in 2.0.1 sums the uncompressed size declared in each entry\u0027s ZIP central-directory header (ZipArchive::statIndex()[\u0027size\u0027]) and rejects archives exceeding system.gpm.archive.max_uncompressed_size before extraction. This is an incomplete fix for GHSA-928x-9mpw-8h56."
