CERTFR-2025-AVI-0387
Vulnerability from certfr_avis - Published: - Updated:
De multiples vulnérabilités ont été découvertes dans le noyau Linux d'Ubuntu. Certaines d'entre elles permettent à un attaquant de provoquer une élévation de privilèges, une atteinte à l'intégrité des données et un déni de service.
Solutions
Se référer au bulletin de sécurité de l'éditeur pour l'obtention des correctifs (cf. section Documentation).

Title
ext4: fix memory leak in ext4_fill_super
Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ext4: fix memory leak in ext4_fill_super
Buffer head references must be released before calling kill_bdev();
otherwise the buffer head (and its page referenced by b_data) will not
be freed by kill_bdev, and subsequently that bh will be leaked.
If blocksizes differ, sb_set_blocksize() will kill current buffers and
page cache by using kill_bdev(). And then super block will be reread
again but using correct blocksize this time. sb_set_blocksize() didn't
fully free superblock page and buffer head, and being busy, they were
not freed and instead leaked.
This can easily be reproduced by calling an infinite loop of:
systemctl start <ext4_on_lvm>.mount, and
systemctl stop <ext4_on_lvm>.mount
... since systemd creates a cgroup for each slice which it mounts, and
the bh leak get amplified by a dying memory cgroup that also never
gets freed, and memory consumption is much more easily noticed.

net: fec: fix the potential memory leak in fec_enet_init()
Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: fec: fix the potential memory leak in fec_enet_init()
If the memory allocated for cbd_base is failed, it should
free the memory allocated for the queues, otherwise it causes
memory leak.
And if the memory allocated for the queues is failed, it can
return error directly.

Title
tipc: wait and exit until all work queues are done
Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tipc: wait and exit until all work queues are done
On some host, a crash could be triggered simply by repeating these
commands several times:
# modprobe tipc
# tipc bearer enable media udp name UDP1 localip 127.0.0.1
# rmmod tipc
[] BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at ffffffffc096bb00
[] Workqueue: events 0xffffffffc096bb00
[] Call Trace:
[] ? process_one_work+0x1a7/0x360
[] ? worker_thread+0x30/0x390
[] ? create_worker+0x1a0/0x1a0
[] ? kthread+0x116/0x130
[] ? kthread_flush_work_fn+0x10/0x10
[] ? ret_from_fork+0x35/0x40
When removing the TIPC module, the UDP tunnel sock will be delayed to
release in a work queue as sock_release() can't be done in rtnl_lock().
If the work queue is schedule to run after the TIPC module is removed,
kernel will crash as the work queue function cleanup_beareri() code no
longer exists when trying to invoke it.
To fix it, this patch introduce a member wq_count in tipc_net to track
the numbers of work queues in schedule, and wait and exit until all
work queues are done in tipc_exit_net().

This issue can be reproduced with the following syzkaller log:
r0 = openat(0xffffffffffffff9c, &(0x7f0000000040)='./file0\x00', 0x26e1, 0x0)
r1 = syz_open_procfs(0xffffffffffffffff, &(0x7f0000000000)='fd/3\x00')
open_by_handle_at(r1, &(0x7f00000003c0)=ANY=[@ANYRESHEX], 0x602000)
r2 = syz_open_dev$sg(&(0x7f0000000000), 0x0, 0x40782)
write$binfmt_aout(r2, &(0x7f0000000340)=ANY=[@ANYBLOB="00000000deff000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000047f007af9e107a41ec395f1bded7be24277a1501ff6196a83366f4e6362bc0ff2b247f68a972989b094b2da4fb3607fcf611a22dd04310d28c75039d"], 0x126)
In resp_readcap16() we get "int alloc_len" value -1104926854, and then pass
the huge arr_len to fill_from_dev_buffer(), but arr is only 32 bytes. This
leads to OOB in sg_copy_buffer().
To solve this issue, define alloc_len as u32.

Title
block: add check that partition length needs to be aligned with block size
Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
block: add check that partition length needs to be aligned with block size
Before calling add partition or resize partition, there is no check
on whether the length is aligned with the logical block size.
If the logical block size of the disk is larger than 512 bytes,
then the partition size maybe not the multiple of the logical block size,
and when the last sector is read, bio_truncate() will adjust the bio size,
resulting in an IO error if the size of the read command is smaller than
the logical block size.If integrity data is supported, this will also
result in a null pointer dereference when calling bio_integrity_free.
Severity
No CVSS data available.

Title
net: atlantic: eliminate double free in error handling logic
Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: atlantic: eliminate double free in error handling logic
Driver has a logic leak in ring data allocation/free,
where aq_ring_free could be called multiple times on same ring,
if system is under stress and got memory allocation error.
Ring pointer was used as an indicator of failure, but this is
not correct since only ring data is allocated/deallocated.
Ring itself is an array member.
Changing ring allocation functions to return error code directly.
This simplifies error handling and eliminates aq_ring_free
on higher layer.

cifs: Fix use-after-free in rdata->read_into_pages()
Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
cifs: Fix use-after-free in rdata->read_into_pages()
When the network status is unstable, use-after-free may occur when
read data from the server.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
netfilter: allow exp not to be removed in nf_ct_find_expectation
Currently nf_conntrack_in() calling nf_ct_find_expectation() will
remove the exp from the hash table. However, in some scenario, we
expect the exp not to be removed when the created ct will not be
confirmed, like in OVS and TC conntrack in the following patches.
This patch allows exp not to be removed by setting IPS_CONFIRMED
in the status of the tmpl.
