Title
FFmpeg 8.0 - 8.1.2 Stack Buffer Overflow in Vulkan HEVC Decoder
Summary
FFmpeg versions 8.0 through 8.1.2 contains a stack buffer overflow vulnerability in the Vulkan HEVC hardware decoder that allows remote attackers to overwrite return addresses and adjacent stack frames by supplying a crafted HEVC/H.265 bitstream. Attackers can embed a malicious vps_num_hrd_parameters value exceeding HEVC_MAX_SUB_LAYERS in any supported container format to overflow stack-allocated arrays in the vk_hevc_end_frame function, potentially achieving arbitrary code execution.

Title
TDengine: Off-by-One Buffer Overflow
Summary
TDengine is an open source, time-series database optimized for Internet of Things devices. In 3.4.1.6 and earlier, source/libs/parser/src/parUtil.c trimString() checks space for only one byte before processing SQL string escape sequences \%, \_, or \x, allowing a one-byte out-of-bounds write to the stack buffer tmpTokenBuf that can cause denial of service and potentially remote code execution. This issue is fixed in version 3.4.1.14.

Title
Vinchin Backup & Recovery 9.0.0.86562 Stack Buffer Overflow via ModuleHandShake
Summary
Vinchin Backup & Recovery through 9.0.0.86562 contains a stack buffer overflow vulnerability in the ModuleHandShake function of the agentlink_server service that allows unauthenticated remote attackers to overwrite the saved return address by supplying an oversized _listen_uuid field that is measured via strlen() and copied without bounds checking into a fixed-length stack buffer using strcpy(). Attackers can send a crafted request with a malicious _listen_uuid value to corrupt the stack and achieve process crash or potential control flow hijack without requiring authentication.

Title
Gstreamer: gstreamer: dtls certificate subject dn stack buffer overflow in openssl_verify_callback
Summary
A stack buffer overflow vulnerability was found in GStreamer's DTLS plugin. During a DTLS handshake, the peer certificate Subject Distinguished Name is printed into a fixed-size 2048-byte stack buffer without bounds checking. A remote unauthenticated attacker can send a certificate with an oversized Subject DN that exceeds the buffer, causing a stack buffer overflow and process crash, resulting in denial of service.
Severity
7.5 (High)
SSVC
Exploitation: none
Automatable: yes
Technical Impact: partial

If WebRTC/DTLS functionality is not required, remove the DTLS plugin shared object from the GStreamer plugins directory (typically /usr/lib64/gstreamer-1.0/libgstdtls.so).\n2. Restrict network access to WebRTC/DTLS endpoints to trusted peers only via firewall rules.\n3. Title
Data::RingBuffer::Shared versions before 0.04 for Perl allow a stack buffer overflow via an unvalidated elem_size in ring_read_seq
Summary
Data::RingBuffer::Shared versions before 0.04 for Perl allow a stack buffer overflow via an unvalidated elem_size in ring_read_seq.
The attach-time validator ring_validate_header checks the capacity-overflow and total_size consistency of the header but never caps elem_size against the destination size. ring_read_seq does memcpy(out, ring_slot(h, seq), elem_size) with elem_size read raw from the mmap'd segment, copying into a fixed 8-byte destination scalar. An elem_size larger than 8 bytes writes past the destination.
A local peer that can write the backing file can leave the header valid while setting a large elem_size, so the next read copies a file-controlled length into the fixed 8-byte stack buffer, corrupting adjacent stack frames.

GV-LPC2011/LPC2211 - unauthorized stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability (vlsvr)
Summary
An unauthenticated
stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability exists in vlsvr in GeoVision
GV-LPC2011 and GV-LPC2211 V1.12 and earlier. The vulnerability is caused by
insufficient length validation when processing remote login data. A remote
attacker may exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted login data with
overly long input, resulting in memory corruption, denial of service, or potentially
arbitrary code execution.

Mitigation MIT-10
Operation
Build and Compilation
Strategy: Environment Hardening
- Use automatic buffer overflow detection mechanisms that are offered by certain compilers or compiler extensions. Examples include: the Microsoft Visual Studio /GS flag, Fedora/Red Hat FORTIFY_SOURCE GCC flag, StackGuard, and ProPolice, which provide various mechanisms including canary-based detection and range/index checking.
- D3-SFCV (Stack Frame Canary Validation) from D3FEND [REF-1334] discusses canary-based detection in detail.
Mitigation
Architecture and Design
Use an abstraction library to abstract away risky APIs. Not a complete solution.
Mitigation
Implementation
Implement and perform bounds checking on input.
Mitigation
Implementation
Do not use dangerous functions such as gets. Use safer, equivalent functions which check for boundary errors.
Mitigation MIT-11
Operation
Build and Compilation
Strategy: Environment Hardening
- Run or compile the software using features or extensions that randomly arrange the positions of a program's executable and libraries in memory. Because this makes the addresses unpredictable, it can prevent an attacker from reliably jumping to exploitable code.
- Examples include Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR) [REF-58] [REF-60] and Position-Independent Executables (PIE) [REF-64]. Imported modules may be similarly realigned if their default memory addresses conflict with other modules, in a process known as "rebasing" (for Windows) and "prelinking" (for Linux) [REF-1332] using randomly generated addresses. ASLR for libraries cannot be used in conjunction with prelink since it would require relocating the libraries at run-time, defeating the whole purpose of prelinking.
- For more information on these techniques see D3-SAOR (Segment Address Offset Randomization) from D3FEND [REF-1335].
