Title
Craft CMS - Missing Authorization in assets/preview-thumb Endpoint
Summary
Craft CMS contains a missing authorization vulnerability in the assets/preview-thumb endpoint. A Control Panel user without permission to view a target private asset can call the endpoint with an attacker-controlled assetId and receive preview HTML containing a signed fallback transform preview link for that private asset, because no asset-view permission check is performed before preview generation. This affects versions >= 4.0.0-RC1, <= 4.17.7 and >= 5.0.0-RC1, <= 5.9.13, and is fixed in 4.17.8 and 5.9.14.

AVideo - Unauthenticated Access to Payment Log DataTables Endpoints via list.json.php
Summary
AVideo through version 26.0 contains multiple unauthenticated list.json.php endpoints in payment plugins lacking authorization checks, exposing PayPal tokens, Authorize.Net webhooks, and Bitcoin transaction records. Unauthenticated attackers can retrieve all payment transaction data including agreement IDs, user financial records, and API responses via direct GET requests to vulnerable endpoints.

Title
Cap-go - Privilege Inversion in Build Log Stream via SSE Disconnect
Summary
Cap-go before 12.128.2 contains a privilege inversion vulnerability in GET /build/logs/:jobId that allows read-only API key holders to cancel running native builds. The endpoint registers an abort listener on the SSE stream that unconditionally invokes cancelBuildOnDisconnect() using the privileged server-side BUILDER_API_KEY when clients disconnect, bypassing the app.build_native permission check required by the explicit POST /build/cancel/:jobId endpoint. Attackers with read-only API keys can repeatedly disrupt native build operations and CI/CD workflows by opening the log stream and dropping the connection.

Summary
Capgo before 12.128.2 allows upload-scoped API keys to modify the mutable app_versions.r2_path field through PostgREST, enabling retargeting to arbitrary R2 bundle objects. Attackers can patch r2_path to point to victim objects, soft-delete the attacker-controlled version, and trigger the on_version_update cleanup function to delete the victim R2 object, causing denial of service and bundle availability disruption.

Capgo before 12.128.2 contains an authorization bypass vulnerability in the public.upsert_version_meta SECURITY DEFINER function exposed via PostgREST RPC, allowing unauthenticated attackers to insert arbitrary rows into version_meta for any app_id. Attackers can exploit this by calling the RPC endpoint with a public anon key to poison storage metrics, causing persistent false data in dashboards and triggering incorrect alerts across victim applications.

Bootimus through 0.1.70 contains a broken access control vulnerability that allows authenticated low-privileged users to perform administrative actions by exploiting missing role enforcement in the JWTMiddleware function in internal/auth/auth.go, which validates JWT tokens and account status but fails to inspect the is_admin flag. Attackers can send requests to any endpoint under the /api/users path to create new administrator accounts or reset administrator passwords, thereby gaining full control of the server and the ability to modify boot menus and installation scripts served to PXE clients.

Chainlit before 2.10.1 contains a session hijacking vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to restore and inherit authenticated user sessions by presenting a valid sessionId during WebSocket session restoration without ownership verification. Attackers can exploit the restore_existing_session path to assume a victim's permissions and roles, enabling unauthorized invocation of tools and access to data restricted to the authenticated victim.

Summary
SpringBlade versions from 2.7.3 up to but not including 5.0.0 contain a privilege escalation vulnerability that allows authenticated attackers to create system administrator accounts by sending crafted POST requests to an unprotected internal Feign user-creation endpoint exposed via @RestController without authorization checks. Attackers can exploit the gateway's authentication filter, which only validates JWT parsing without verifying user roles or caller identity, and leverage a hardcoded JWT signing key embedded in publicly available JARs to forge tokens and escalate privileges from a low-privilege user to administrator, enabling cross-tenant data pollution and persistent backdoor access.

Architecture and Design
  • Divide the product into anonymous, normal, privileged, and administrative areas. Reduce the attack surface by carefully mapping roles with data and functionality. Use role-based access control (RBAC) [REF-229] to enforce the roles at the appropriate boundaries.
  • Note that this approach may not protect against horizontal authorization, i.e., it will not protect a user from attacking others with the same role.

Ensure that access control checks are performed related to the business logic. These checks may be different than the access control checks that are applied to more generic resources such as files, connections, processes, memory, and database records. For example, a database may restrict access for medical records to a specific database user, but each record might only be intended to be accessible to the patient and the patient's doctor [REF-7].

  • Use a vetted library or framework that does not allow this weakness to occur or provides constructs that make this weakness easier to avoid.
  • For example, consider using authorization frameworks such as the JAAS Authorization Framework [REF-233] and the OWASP ESAPI Access Control feature [REF-45].

  • For web applications, make sure that the access control mechanism is enforced correctly at the server side on every page. Users should not be able to access any unauthorized functionality or information by simply requesting direct access to that page.
  • One way to do this is to ensure that all pages containing sensitive information are not cached, and that all such pages restrict access to requests that are accompanied by an active and authenticated session token associated with a user who has the required permissions to access that page.

System Configuration Installation

Use the access control capabilities of your operating system and server environment and define your access control lists accordingly. Use a "default deny" policy when defining these ACLs.

CAPEC-665: Exploitation of Thunderbolt Protection Flaws

An adversary leverages a firmware weakness within the Thunderbolt protocol, on a computing device to manipulate Thunderbolt controller firmware in order to exploit vulnerabilities in the implementation of authorization and verification schemes within Thunderbolt protection mechanisms. Upon gaining physical access to a target device, the adversary conducts high-level firmware manipulation of the victim Thunderbolt controller SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) flash, through the use of a SPI Programing device and an external Thunderbolt device, typically as the target device is booting up. If successful, this allows the adversary to modify memory, subvert authentication mechanisms, spoof identities and content, and extract data and memory from the target device. Currently 7 major vulnerabilities exist within Thunderbolt protocol with 9 attack vectors as noted in the Execution Flow.
