Vulnerability from github – Published: 2022-05-24 17:30 – Updated: 2022-10-07 18:15In Wireshark 3.2.0 to 3.2.6 and 3.0.0 to 3.0.13, the BLIP protocol dissector has a NULL pointer dereference because a buffer was sized for compressed (not uncompressed) messages. This was addressed in epan/dissectors/packet-blip.c by allowing reasonable compression ratios and rejecting ZIP bombs.

GHSA-J5PJ-MR9V-2742
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-08-21 09:31 – Updated: 2024-09-11 18:31In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
iommu/arm-smmu: Don't unregister on shutdown
Michael Walle says he noticed the following stack trace while performing a shutdown with "reboot -f". He suggests he got "lucky" and just hit the correct spot for the reboot while there was a packet transmission in flight.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-04-18 15:31 – Updated: 2025-11-02 15:30In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
sfc: fix NULL dereferences in ef100_process_design_param()
Since cited commit, ef100_probe_main() and hence also ef100_check_design_params() run before efx->net_dev is created; consequently, we cannot netif_set_tso_max_size() or _segs() at this point. Move those netif calls to ef100_probe_netdev(), and also replace netif_err within the design params code with pci_err.

Mitigation MIT-56
For any pointers that could have been modified or provided from a function that can return NULL, check the pointer for NULL before use. When working with a multithreaded or otherwise asynchronous environment, ensure that proper locking APIs are used to lock before the check, and unlock when it has finished [REF-1484].
Mitigation
Select a programming language that is not susceptible to these issues.
Mitigation
Check the results of all functions that return a value and verify that the value is non-null before acting upon it.
Mitigation
Identify all variables and data stores that receive information from external sources, and apply input validation to make sure that they are only initialized to expected values.
Mitigation
Explicitly initialize all variables and other data stores, either during declaration or just before the first usage.
No CAPEC attack patterns related to this CWE.
