A flaw was found in OpenSSL. A remote attacker could exploit this by sending a large number of QUIC Initial packets to an OpenSSL QUIC server. This can cause the server to allocate and queue new incoming channels without limit, leading to unbounded memory growth. The excessive memory consumption can result in a Denial of Service (DoS) condition, making the QUIC listener unavailable.

Impact Important

A flaw was found in OpenSSL. A malicious TLS (Transport Layer Security) server can exploit this vulnerability by sending a specially crafted OCSP (Online Certificate Status Protocol) response during the X.509 certificate chain verification process. This can lead to a memory leak in client applications that have enabled OCSP response checking. Repeated connections to a malicious server could exhaust the client's memory, ultimately resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).

CWE-772 - Missing Release of Resource after Effective Lifetime

A malicious TLS (Transport Layer Security) server can exploit this vulnerability by sending a specially crafted OCSP (Online Certificate Status Protocol) response during the X.509 certificate chain verification process. This can lead to a memory leak in client applications that have enabled OCSP response checking. Repeated connections to a malicious server could exhaust the client\u0027s memory, ultimately resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).",
