Title
tipc: Fix use-after-free in tipc_conn_close().
Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tipc: Fix use-after-free in tipc_conn_close(). syzbot reported a null-ptr-deref in tipc_conn_close() during netns dismantle. [0] tipc_topsrv_stop() iterates tipc_net(net)->topsrv->conn_idr and calls tipc_conn_close() for each tipc_conn. The problem is that tipc_conn_close() is called after releasing the IDR lock. At the same time, there might be tipc_conn_recv_work() running and it could call tipc_conn_close() for the same tipc_conn and release its last ->kref. Once we release the IDR lock in tipc_topsrv_stop(), there is no guarantee that the tipc_conn is alive. Let's hold the ref before releasing the lock and put the ref after tipc_conn_close() in tipc_topsrv_stop().
AV:L - The TIPC topology server listener is bound with TIPC_NODE_SCOPE, so it is only reachable from the local node, and the trigger additionally requires the attacker to drive a network-namespace teardown (`cleanup_net`), which is a local operation. Exploitation is via local syscalls (`socket(AF_TIPC)`, `connect`, `write`, `unshare`/exit).
AC:L - The attacker controls both sides of the race — they choose when to destroy the netns and simultaneously keep `tipc_conn_recv_work()` running by streaming malformed subscription writes that force `tipc_conn_close()`/`conn_put()`. The sequence can be retried in an unbounded create/destroy-netns loop, and syzkaller reproduced it by chance alone.
PR:L - Only an unprivileged local account is needed: `unshare -Urn` creates the netns that instantiates and later tears down the per-netns topology server, `socket(AF_TIPC,…)` autoloads tipc.ko with no capability check in `__sock_create()`, and `net/tipc/` has no `capable()` gate on the socket or subscription path.
UI:N - The attacker performs every step themselves — namespace creation, connecting to the topology server, sending data, and triggering namespace teardown. No victim action or cooperation is required.
S:U - The use-after-free corrupts kernel heap memory and any resulting escalation stays within the kernel's own security authority. No hypervisor, IOMMU, or other security-authority boundary is crossed.
C:H - The freed object lives in the generic kmalloc-512 cache, which an unprivileged attacker can reliably reclaim with `msg_msg`/`setxattr`/keyring sprays, giving control over `con->sock` and `con->sub_list`; the resulting controlled dereferences and list walks can be turned into a kernel-memory read primitive and leak kernel pointers.
I:H - Post-free, `tipc_conn_close()` writes through the reclaimed object (`test_and_clear_bit` on `con->flags`, `write_lock_bh` on an attacker-controlled `sk`), unlinks attacker-controlled `con->sub_list` entries (arbitrary-write via list_del), and calls `sock->ops->shutdown()` through a controlled pointer — a direct control-flow hijack primitive leading to privilege escalation.
A:H - Even unweaponized, the use-after-free dereferences freed memory in the `cleanup_net` kworker, producing an oops/panic in a global kernel thread as demonstrated by the syzbot KASAN report. A panic in the netns cleanup worker also wedges all further namespace teardown on the system."

I:H - Post-free, `tipc_conn_close()` writes through the reclaimed object (`test_and_clear_bit` on `con->flags`, `write_lock_bh` on an attacker-controlled `sk`), unlinks attacker-controlled `con->sub_list` entries (arbitrary-write via list_del), and calls `sock->ops->shutdown()` through a controlled pointer — a direct control-flow hijack primitive leading to privilege escalation.
