Title
MISP importModule missing authorization allows read-only users to modify events via misp_standard imports
Summary
An authorization bypass in MISP’s EventsController::importModule() allowed authenticated users or read-only API keys with event view access to persist data to events they were not allowed to modify. When an import module returned results in the misp_standard format, the write path did not verify event modification rights before saving the module output. This could allow a view-only user to inject or alter event data, impacting the integrity of MISP event content. The issue was fixed by enforcing the same modification-rights check used by related module result handling paths before processing misp_standard imports.

Title
Cozy Blocks <= 2.2.17 - Missing Authorization to Unauthenticated Unpublished Product Information Disclosure via 'wishlistData' Parameter
Summary
The Cozy Blocks – Page Builder for Gutenberg Editor & FSE with 700+ Patterns, 58 Blocks & Templates plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to authorization bypass in all versions up to, and including, 2.2.17. This is due to the plugin not properly verifying that a user is authorized to perform an action. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to retrieve the name, price, short description, image URL, permalink, stock status, and product type of draft, pending, private, and catalog-hidden WooCommerce products not intended to be publicly visible. The sidebarNonce value is emitted unconditionally into public page HTML by multiple block renderers with no login gate, allowing unauthenticated visitors to harvest a valid nonce and pass the only authentication check in the handler.

Title
Awesome Support <= 6.3.9 - Missing Authorization to Authenticated (Subscriber+) Arbitrary User Denial via 'user_id' Parameter
Summary
The Awesome Support plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Missing Authorization in versions up to, and including, 6.3.9. This is due to a missing capability check on the wpas_do_mr_deny_user() function, which unlike its counterpart wpas_do_mr_activate_user() does not enforce current_user_can('edit_users') or current_user_can('edit_user', $user_id), relying solely on a nonce that is not scoped to the target user. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to set the mr_user_denied flag on any user account — including administrators — permanently blocking their moderated activation and dispatching a denial notification email to the victim.

Title
InfusedWoo Pro <= 5.1.18 - Authenticated (Subscriber+) Privilege Escalation via Password Reset Link Disclosure
Summary
The InfusedWoo Pro plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation via Account Takeover in all versions up to, and including, 5.1.17. This is due to a missing capability check in the `ajax_iwar_preview_email()` function, which uses `is_admin()` as its only authorization check and allows low-privilege users to render email preview merge fields for an arbitrary email address. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to generate and retrieve a valid password reset link for any WordPress user, including administrators, enabling account takeover.

Title
Checkout Custom Fields Builder for WooCommerce <= 1.1.5 - Missing Authorization to Authenticated (Subscriber+) Arbitrary Plugin Installation via 'plugin' Parameter
Summary
The Checkout Custom Fields Builder for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to authorization bypass in all versions up to, and including, 1.1.5. This is due to the plugin not properly verifying that a user is authorized to perform an action. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to install and activate an arbitrary attacker-hosted plugin, resulting in remote code execution on the server. The required nonce is emitted inline on all admin pages accessible to subscribers when WooCommerce is inactive, meaning any subscriber-level user can harvest it and trigger the exploit without any additional privileges.

Title
BetterLinks <= 3.1.0 - Missing Authorization to Authenticated (Subscriber+) Arbitrary Short URL Creation via create_fbs_link AJAX Action
Summary
The BetterLinks – Link Shortener, Link Cloaking, Redirects, Affiliate Link Manager & MCP plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to authorization bypass in all versions up to, and including, 3.1.0. This is due to the plugin not properly verifying that a user is authorized to perform an action. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to create arbitrary BetterLinks short URLs with attacker-controlled slugs and redirect destinations, enabling phishing and SEO abuse. Exploitation requires the Fluent Boards companion plugin to be installed and active (so that the FLUENT_BOARDS constant is defined), and is further facilitated by the betterlinks_admin_nonce nonce being emitted on every frontend page via wp_localize_script, making it accessible to any authenticated user.

Exploitation requires the Fluent Boards companion plugin to be installed and active (so that the FLUENT_BOARDS constant is defined), and is further facilitated by the betterlinks_admin_nonce nonce being emitted on every frontend page via wp_localize_script, making it accessible to any authenticated user."

Title
ScadaLTS Authenticated Remote Code Execution
Summary
ScadaLTS 2.7.8.1 exposes a server-side method that lacks authorization checks, allowing any authenticated user (including one holding only low-privilege, read-only permissions) to execute arbitrary operating system commands on the host. Successful exploitation results in code execution in the context of the ScadaLTS server process (root), leading to full compromise of the underlying system.

Mitigation
Architecture and Design
  • Divide the product into anonymous, normal, privileged, and administrative areas. Reduce the attack surface by carefully mapping roles with data and functionality. Use role-based access control (RBAC) [REF-229] to enforce the roles at the appropriate boundaries.
  • Note that this approach may not protect against horizontal authorization, i.e., it will not protect a user from attacking others with the same role.
Mitigation
Architecture and Design

Ensure that access control checks are performed related to the business logic. These checks may be different than the access control checks that are applied to more generic resources such as files, connections, processes, memory, and database records. For example, a database may restrict access for medical records to a specific database user, but each record might only be intended to be accessible to the patient and the patient's doctor [REF-7].

Mitigation MIT-4.4
Architecture and Design

Strategy: Libraries or Frameworks

  • Use a vetted library or framework that does not allow this weakness to occur or provides constructs that make this weakness easier to avoid.
  • For example, consider using authorization frameworks such as the JAAS Authorization Framework [REF-233] and the OWASP ESAPI Access Control feature [REF-45].
Mitigation
Architecture and Design
  • For web applications, make sure that the access control mechanism is enforced correctly at the server side on every page. Users should not be able to access any unauthorized functionality or information by simply requesting direct access to that page.
  • One way to do this is to ensure that all pages containing sensitive information are not cached, and that all such pages restrict access to requests that are accompanied by an active and authenticated session token associated with a user who has the required permissions to access that page.
Mitigation
System Configuration Installation

Use the access control capabilities of your operating system and server environment and define your access control lists accordingly. Use a "default deny" policy when defining these ACLs.

CAPEC-665: Exploitation of Thunderbolt Protection Flaws

An adversary leverages a firmware weakness within the Thunderbolt protocol, on a computing device to manipulate Thunderbolt controller firmware in order to exploit vulnerabilities in the implementation of authorization and verification schemes within Thunderbolt protection mechanisms. Upon gaining physical access to a target device, the adversary conducts high-level firmware manipulation of the victim Thunderbolt controller SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) flash, through the use of a SPI Programing device and an external Thunderbolt device, typically as the target device is booting up. If successful, this allows the adversary to modify memory, subvert authentication mechanisms, spoof identities and content, and extract data and memory from the target device. Currently 7 major vulnerabilities exist within Thunderbolt protocol with 9 attack vectors as noted in the Execution Flow.
