GHSA-6XRM-X8CF-8FV9
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-06-13 21:30 – Updated: 2024-07-11 15:30In circ_read of link_device_memory_legacy.c, there is a possible out of bounds write due to an incorrect bounds check. This could lead to remote code execution with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation.

GHSA-6XRQ-2WW3-F6H5
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2022-05-24 17:46 – Updated: 2022-05-24 17:46A flaw was found in Nettle in versions before 3.7.2, where several Nettle signature verification functions (GOST DSA, EDDSA & ECDSA) result in the Elliptic Curve Cryptography point (ECC) multiply function being called with out-of-range scalers, possibly resulting in incorrect results. This flaw allows an attacker to force an invalid signature, causing an assertion failure or possible validation. The highest threat to this vulnerability is to confidentiality, integrity, as well as system availability.

GHSA-6XX4-FVPC-R9QF
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-06-18 12:30 – Updated: 2025-12-17 18:31In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
platform/x86: dell-wmi-sysman: Avoid buffer overflow in current_password_store()
If the 'buf' array received from the user contains an empty string, the 'length' variable will be zero. Accessing the 'buf' array element with index 'length - 1' will result in a buffer overflow.
Add a check for an empty string.
Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE.

GHSA-6XX6-9HJ3-4RV2
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-01-18 18:30 – Updated: 2024-06-27 12:30A flaw was found in the Netfilter subsystem in the Linux kernel. The issue is in the nft_byteorder_eval() function, where the code iterates through a loop and writes to the dst array. On each iteration, 8 bytes are written, but dst is an array of u32, so each element only has space for 4 bytes. That means every iteration overwrites part of the previous element, possibly leading to an out-of-bounds write. This flaw allows a local user to cause a denial of service or potentially escalate their privileges on the system.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-09-06 09:32 – Updated: 2025-11-03 21:31In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
media: aspeed: Fix memory overwrite if timing is 1600x900
When capturing 1600x900, system could crash when system memory usage is tight.
The way to reproduce this issue: 1. Use 1600x900 to display on host 2. Mount ISO through 'Virtual media' on OpenBMC's web 3. Run script as below on host to do sha continuously #!/bin/bash while [ [1] ]; do find /media -type f -printf '"%h/%f"\n' | xargs sha256sum done 4. Open KVM on OpenBMC's web
The size of macro block captured is 8x8. Therefore, we should make sure the height of src-buf is 8 aligned to fix this issue.

wifi: ath12k: fix possible out-of-bound write in ath12k_wmi_ext_hal_reg_caps()
reg_cap.phy_id is extracted from WMI event and could be an unexpected value in case some errors happen. As a result out-of-bound write may occur to soc->hal_reg_cap. Fix it by validating reg_cap.phy_id before using it.
This is found during code review.
Compile tested only.

Mitigation MIT-3
Strategy: Language Selection
- Use a language that does not allow this weakness to occur or provides constructs that make this weakness easier to avoid.
- For example, many languages that perform their own memory management, such as Java and Perl, are not subject to buffer overflows. Other languages, such as Ada and C#, typically provide overflow protection, but the protection can be disabled by the programmer.
- Be wary that a language's interface to native code may still be subject to overflows, even if the language itself is theoretically safe.
Mitigation MIT-4.1
Strategy: Libraries or Frameworks
- Use a vetted library or framework that does not allow this weakness to occur or provides constructs that make this weakness easier to avoid.
- Examples include the Safe C String Library (SafeStr) by Messier and Viega [REF-57], and the Strsafe.h library from Microsoft [REF-56]. These libraries provide safer versions of overflow-prone string-handling functions.
Mitigation MIT-10
Strategy: Environment Hardening
- Use automatic buffer overflow detection mechanisms that are offered by certain compilers or compiler extensions. Examples include: the Microsoft Visual Studio /GS flag, Fedora/Red Hat FORTIFY_SOURCE GCC flag, StackGuard, and ProPolice, which provide various mechanisms including canary-based detection and range/index checking.
- D3-SFCV (Stack Frame Canary Validation) from D3FEND [REF-1334] discusses canary-based detection in detail.
Mitigation MIT-9
- Consider adhering to the following rules when allocating and managing an application's memory:
- Double check that the buffer is as large as specified.
- When using functions that accept a number of bytes to copy, such as strncpy(), be aware that if the destination buffer size is equal to the source buffer size, it may not NULL-terminate the string.
- Check buffer boundaries if accessing the buffer in a loop and make sure there is no danger of writing past the allocated space.
- If necessary, truncate all input strings to a reasonable length before passing them to the copy and concatenation functions.
Mitigation MIT-11
Strategy: Environment Hardening
- Run or compile the software using features or extensions that randomly arrange the positions of a program's executable and libraries in memory. Because this makes the addresses unpredictable, it can prevent an attacker from reliably jumping to exploitable code.
- Examples include Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR) [REF-58] [REF-60] and Position-Independent Executables (PIE) [REF-64]. Imported modules may be similarly realigned if their default memory addresses conflict with other modules, in a process known as "rebasing" (for Windows) and "prelinking" (for Linux) [REF-1332] using randomly generated addresses. ASLR for libraries cannot be used in conjunction with prelink since it would require relocating the libraries at run-time, defeating the whole purpose of prelinking.
- For more information on these techniques see D3-SAOR (Segment Address Offset Randomization) from D3FEND [REF-1335].
Mitigation MIT-12
Strategy: Environment Hardening
- Use a CPU and operating system that offers Data Execution Protection (using hardware NX or XD bits) or the equivalent techniques that simulate this feature in software, such as PaX [REF-60] [REF-61]. These techniques ensure that any instruction executed is exclusively at a memory address that is part of the code segment.
- For more information on these techniques see D3-PSEP (Process Segment Execution Prevention) from D3FEND [REF-1336].
Mitigation MIT-13
Replace unbounded copy functions with analogous functions that support length arguments, such as strcpy with strncpy. Create these if they are not available.
