VLAI
Summary
Improper Restriction of Operations within the Bounds of a Memory Buffer in Apache Tomcat
Details

An h2c direct connection to Apache Tomcat 10.0.0-M1 to 10.0.0-M6, 9.0.0.M5 to 9.0.36 and 8.5.1 to 8.5.56 did not release the HTTP/1.1 processor after the upgrade to HTTP/2. If a sufficient number of such requests were made, an OutOfMemoryException could occur leading to a denial of service.

Details

A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability has been reported to affect several QNAP operating system versions. If a remote attacker gains an administrator account, they can then exploit the vulnerability to launch a denial-of-service (DoS) attack.

We have already fixed the vulnerability in the following version: QuTS hero h5.3.2.3354 build 20251225 and later

GHSA-VFGJ-F4G9-XH2H

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-12-30 15:30 – Updated: 2026-02-26 21:31
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

driver core: fix potential null-ptr-deref in device_add()

I got the following null-ptr-deref report while doing fault injection test:

BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000058 CPU: 2 PID: 278 Comm: 37-i2c-ds2482 Tainted: G B W N 6.1.0-rc3+ RIP: 0010:klist_put+0x2d/0xd0 Call Trace: klist_remove+0xf1/0x1c0 device_release_driver_internal+0x196/0x210 bus_remove_device+0x1bd/0x240 device_add+0xd3d/0x1100 w1_add_master_device+0x476/0x490 [wire] ds2482_probe+0x303/0x3e0 [ds2482]

This is how it happened:

w1_alloc_dev() // The dev->driver is set to w1_master_driver. memcpy(&dev->dev, device, sizeof(struct device)); device_add() bus_add_device() dpm_sysfs_add() // It fails, calls bus_remove_device.

// error path
bus_remove_device()
  // The dev->driver is not null, but driver is not bound.
  __device_release_driver()
    klist_remove(&dev->p->knode_driver) <-- It causes null-ptr-deref.

// normal path
bus_probe_device() // It's not called yet.
  device_bind_driver()

If dev->driver is set, in the error path after calling bus_add_device() in device_add(), bus_remove_device() is called, then the device will be detached from driver. But device_bind_driver() is not called yet, so it causes null-ptr-deref while access the 'knode_driver'. To fix this, set dev->driver to null in the error path before calling bus_remove_device().

A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability has been reported to affect several QNAP operating system versions. If exploited, the vulnerability could allow authenticated administrators to launch a denial-of-service (DoS) attack via a network. QES is not affected.

We have already fixed the vulnerability in the following versions: QuTS hero h5.0.1.2515 build 20230907 and later QuTS hero h5.1.0.2453 build 20230708 and later QuTS hero h4.5.4.2476 build 20230728 and later QuTScloud c5.1.0.2498 and later QTS 5.1.0.2444 build 20230629 and later QTS 4.5.4.2467 build 20230718 and later

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-05-27 15:33 – Updated: 2026-06-25 21:31
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

net: caif: clear client service pointer on teardown

caif_connect() can tear down an existing client after remote shutdown by calling caif_disconnect_client() followed by caif_free_client(). caif_free_client() releases the service layer referenced by adap_layer->dn, but leaves that pointer stale.

When the socket is later destroyed, caif_sock_destructor() calls caif_free_client() again and dereferences the freed service pointer.

Clear the client/service links before releasing the service object so repeated teardown becomes harmless.

Mitigation MIT-56
Implementation

For any pointers that could have been modified or provided from a function that can return NULL, check the pointer for NULL before use. When working with a multithreaded or otherwise asynchronous environment, ensure that proper locking APIs are used to lock before the check, and unlock when it has finished [REF-1484].

Mitigation
Requirements

Select a programming language that is not susceptible to these issues.

Mitigation
Implementation

Check the results of all functions that return a value and verify that the value is non-null before acting upon it.

Mitigation
Architecture and Design

Identify all variables and data stores that receive information from external sources, and apply input validation to make sure that they are only initialized to expected values.

Mitigation
Implementation

Explicitly initialize all variables and other data stores, either during declaration or just before the first usage.

No CAPEC attack patterns related to this CWE.
