Details

This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Bentley MicroStation CONNECT 10.16.0.80. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The specific flaw exists within the parsing of JT files. The issue results from the lack of proper initialization of memory prior to accessing it. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process. Was ZDI-CAN-15027.

Details

A vulnerability in the SSL/TLS handler of Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause the affected device to reload unexpectedly, leading to a denial of service (DoS) condition. The vulnerability is due to improper error handling on established SSL/TLS connections. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by establishing an SSL/TLS connection with the affected device and then sending a malicious SSL/TLS message within that connection. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to cause the device to reload.Cisco has released software updates that address this vulnerability. There are no workarounds that address this vulnerability.

Mitigation MIT-57
Implementation

Strategy: Attack Surface Reduction

Ensure that critical variables are initialized before first use [REF-1485].

Mitigation
Build and Compilation

Strategy: Compilation or Build Hardening

Most compilers will complain about the use of uninitialized variables if warnings are turned on.

Mitigation
Implementation Operation

When using a language that does not require explicit declaration of variables, run or compile the software in a mode that reports undeclared or unknown variables. This may indicate the presence of a typographic error in the variable's name.

Mitigation
Requirements

Strategy: Language Selection

Choose a language that is not susceptible to these issues.

Mitigation
Architecture and Design

Mitigating technologies such as safe string libraries and container abstractions could be introduced.
