GHSA-JP43-QMG3-XRHW
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-07-24 06:34 – Updated: 2026-07-24 06:34The Wpify Woo plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in versions up to, and including, 5.4.16. This is due to the SettingsApi::save_option() REST route (POST /wp-json/wpify-woo/v1/option) passing the request-supplied 'option' and 'data' parameters directly to update_option() without any option-name allowlist or value sanitization, while the permission_callback only verifies the manage_woocommerce capability. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Shop Manager-level access and above, to elevate their privileges to Administrator by overwriting arbitrary WordPress options (for example setting default_role to administrator and users_can_register to 1, or disabling security plugins via active_plugins).

GHSA-JP55-93WH-X75G
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2022-05-24 19:10 – Updated: 2022-05-24 19:10The Canon TR150 print driver through 3.71.2.10 is vulnerable to a privilege escalation issue. During the add printer process, a local attacker can overwrite CNMurGE.dll and, if timed properly, the overwritten DLL will be loaded into a SYSTEM process resulting in escalation of privileges. This occurs because the driver drops a world-writable DLL into a CanonBJ %PROGRAMDATA% location that gets loaded by printisolationhost (a system process).

Mitigation MIT-1
Very carefully manage the setting, management, and handling of privileges. Explicitly manage trust zones in the software.
Mitigation MIT-48
Strategy: Separation of Privilege
Follow the principle of least privilege when assigning access rights to entities in a software system.
Mitigation MIT-49
Strategy: Separation of Privilege
Consider following the principle of separation of privilege. Require multiple conditions to be met before permitting access to a system resource.
CAPEC-122: Privilege Abuse
An adversary is able to exploit features of the target that should be reserved for privileged users or administrators but are exposed to use by lower or non-privileged accounts. Access to sensitive information and functionality must be controlled to ensure that only authorized users are able to access these resources.
CAPEC-233: Privilege Escalation
An adversary exploits a weakness enabling them to elevate their privilege and perform an action that they are not supposed to be authorized to perform.
CAPEC-58: Restful Privilege Elevation
An adversary identifies a Rest HTTP (Get, Put, Delete) style permission method allowing them to perform various malicious actions upon server data due to lack of access control mechanisms implemented within the application service accepting HTTP messages.
