CVE-2022-0492

Affected: kernel

A vulnerability was found in the Linux kernel’s cgroup_release_agent_write in the kernel/cgroup/cgroup-v1.c function. This flaw, under certain circumstances, allows the use of the cgroups v1 release_agent feature to escalate privileges and bypass the namespace isolation unexpectedly.

LSN-0085-1 — Kernel Live Patch Security Notice

Affected: Ubuntu:Pro:14.04:LTS: linux-lts-xenial, Ubuntu:Pro:16.04:LTS: linux-aws, Ubuntu:Pro:16.04:LTS: linux-azure, Ubuntu:Pro:16.04:LTS: linux-hwe, Ubuntu:Pro:16.04:LTS: linux, Ubuntu:Pro:18.04:LTS: linux-aws, Ubuntu:Pro:18.04:LTS: linux-azure-4.15, Ubuntu:Pro:18.04:LTS: linux, Ubuntu:Pro:18.04:LTS: linux-gke-4.15, Ubuntu:Pro:18.04:LTS: linux-gke-5.4 and 11 more

Yiqi Sun and Kevin Wang discovered that the cgroups implementation in the
Linux kernel did not properly restrict access to the cgroups v1
release_agent feature. A local attacker could use this to gain
administrative privileges.(CVE-2022-0492)

Nick Gregory discovered that the Linux kernel incorrectly handled network
offload functionality. A local attacker could use this to cause a denial of
service or possibly execute arbitrary code.(CVE-2022-25636)
