CVE-2021-47202 — thermal: Fix NULL pointer dereferences in of_thermal_ functions

Affected: Linux

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

thermal: Fix NULL pointer dereferences in of_thermal_ functions

of_parse_thermal_zones() parses the thermal-zones node and registers a
thermal_zone device for each subnode. However, if a thermal zone is
consuming a thermal sensor and that thermal sensor device hasn't probed
yet, an attempt to set trip_point_*_temp for that thermal zone device
can cause a NULL pointer dereference. Fix it.

console:/sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone87 # echo 120000 > trip_point_0_temp
...
Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 0000000000000020
...

functions as well: of_thermal_get_temp(), of_thermal_set_emul_temp(),
of_thermal_get_trend().

Affected: Ubuntu:Pro:18.04:LTS: linux, Ubuntu:Pro:18.04:LTS: linux-azure-4.15, Ubuntu:Pro:18.04:LTS: linux-gcp-4.15, Ubuntu:Pro:18.04:LTS: linux-kvm, Ubuntu:Pro:18.04:LTS: linux-oracle, Ubuntu:Pro:FIPS-updates:18.04:LTS: linux-azure-fips, Ubuntu:Pro:FIPS-updates:18.04:LTS: linux-fips, Ubuntu:Pro:FIPS-updates:18.04:LTS: linux-gcp-fips

It was discovered that a logic flaw existed in the XFRM ESP-in-TCP
subsystem in the Linux kernel when handling socket buffer fragments. This
flaw is known as Fragnesia. A local attacker could use this to escalate
privileges, or possibly escape a container. (CVE-2026-43503)

Several security issues were discovered in the Linux kernel.
An attacker could possibly use these to compromise the system.
This update corrects flaws in the following subsystems:
 - InfiniBand drivers;
 - SCSI subsystem;
 - Thermal drivers;
 - USB over IP driver;
 - Network file system (NFS) server daemon;
 - SMB network file system;
 - Tracing infrastructure;
 - B.A.T.M.A.N. meshing protocol;
 - Ethernet bridge;
 - Ceph Core library;
 - DCCP (Datagram Congestion Control Protocol);
 - IPv4 networking;
 - IPv6 networking;
 - Netfilter;
 - RxRPC session sockets;
 - X.25 network layer;
